Alcohol, cannabis and impaired driving

Forensic toxicologist Jim Wigmore speaks on impaired driving as it relates to alcohol and cannabis at the St. James Town library on Jan. 25. The talk is entitled “Alcohol, Cannabis and the Forensic Science of Impaired Driving: Does 1+1=3?”

Participants will learn about new changes to the impaired driving laws with new levels of impairment for THC, and Drug Recognition and Evaluation (DRE), and oral fluid tests.

They will also learn the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or cannabis and especially the greatly increased risk when alcohol is combined with cannabis, and the differences in types of motor vehicle accidents caused by alcohol and compared to those caused by THC.

The St. James Town library is at 495 Sherbourne St. The talk runs from 7 to 8 p.m.
