May 4: Jane’s Walk explores Harbord Village

The Jane’s Walk on Harbord Village: An Historic Downtown Neighbourhood will take place on May 4 at 2 p.m., beginning at Brunswick House Rexall on the southeast corner on Bloor Street West and Brunswick Avenue.

This two-hour walk is led by Richard Longley of the Architectural Conservancy Ontario.

It focuses on Harbord Village: who built it, lived, worked, studied and played in it. Well-known figures of the area include poet Gwendolyn McEwan, photographers William James and Humphrey Hime, Toronto’s first black postman Albert Jackson, Joe Shuster who co-invented Superman, and Dr. Norman Bethune.

The walk will end on College Street, north of the entrance to Kensington Market.
