THINGS TO DO

Aug. 29: First Toronto LGBTQ Death Café

The first Toronto LGBTQ Death Café will take place on Aug. 29 at the Glad Day Bookshop at 499 Church St. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This event is presented by the Home Hospice Association (HHA).

Death cafes are part of a global movement “to increase awareness of death with a view to help people make the most of their (finite) lives.” This is an opportunity for the community to gather together in a safe, relaxed setting at to discuss death, dying and grief in an open forum while enjoying refreshments.

HHA aims to help communities develop resources to care for their dying in non-institutional environments. Much of the agency’s work also focuses on helping all members of any community die with peace and dignity.

This is a free event. Check online for more information.
