Comedy, music, dancing and poetry performed; plus after-party

South Africa’s freedom day will be commemorated starting on Apr. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at 1100 Millwood Rd.

Thenjiwe, South Africa’s first lady of comedy, will be performing, and the pre-show will feature artists from Southern Africa performing traditional dancing, poetry and a live band.

The cost of admission is from $30 to $35. Free drinks, wine and finger foods will be provided. The not-to-miss after-party will be hosted by South Africa’s very own UK-based Afrohouse and Kwaito music DJ, Standish.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated towards the empowerment and poverty alleviation programs for women and children in South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.
