Elderly woman struck, killed
An 85-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle at a busy Leaside intersection.
The senior was crossing Bayview Avenue on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East on Jan. 15 just after 2:30 p.m. when she was hit by a southbound Dodge Journey as it turned right onto westbound Eglinton.
The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died Jan. 20.
The 20-year-old male driver of the truck has not been charged.
This is the sixth fatality on Toronto roads in 2016, and the third pedestrian fatality.
