Lawrence Park

Lawrence Park is a neighbourhood in North Toronto located between Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue and below Lawrence Avenue East to Blythwood Ravine in the south. It is often confused with nearby Lytton Park, which extends west of here to Bathurst Street.

Developers first purchased the land here in the early 20th century but development was stunted by the wars and the depression. These early developers billed the neighbourhood as being a “garden suburb” and “aristocratic” and many today would agree that they met their intentions; along with many of the neighbouring communities, Lawrence Park is among Toronto’s most affluent.

Lawrence Park is a residential neighbourhood of Georgian, English Cottage and Tudor Revival-style homes, high-ranking public and private schools and colleges and parks. The streets are pretty and wind through this hilly neighbourhood located 120 metres above Lake Ontario.

Businesses and shops flank the area, especially along Yonge Street to the north and Bayview Avenue to the south.

You can get Lawrence Park news from Streeter online by neighbourhood or via the North Toronto edition. Residents also receive a North Toronto print edition of Streeter.
