Wychwood Park

Wychwood Park is one of Toronto’s most exclusive and storied neighbourhoods. A tiny, formerly gated, community found on the northwest corner of Bathurst Street and Davenport Road, Wychwood Park was the first neighbourhood to be granted Heritage Status by the Province of Ontario.

Two artists founded Wychwood Park in the late 19th century as an artistic community on the rural edge of the city. Strict building rules were established, and are upheld today by an executive council. Many of the 80-100 year-old Arts and crafts-style homes here were designed by the architect Eden Smith, himself a resident of the neighbourhood.

Physically, the neighbourhood is full of stately, mature trees and surrounds a ravine. Taddle Creek flows through this ravine where early residents dammed it to create a pond.

Today Wychwood Park is one of Toronto’s most exclusive, if not the most exclusive. Homes here sell for well over $1m (on the extremely rare occasion that one becomes available). Residents here pay for all of the neighbourhood’s amenities.

You can get specifically Wychwood Park news from Streeter online by neighbourhood or via the Forest Hill edition. Residents also receive the Forest Hill print edition of Streeter.
