Founding of 30-year-old art show recalled

Dr. Neville Reid recalls starting the Riverdale Art Show and Sale three decades ago.

“My wife is an artist and at that time there were very few art shows — so we wanted to see if it would work or not.”

Marking its 30th year this past weekend at St. Barnabas-on-the-Danforth, the show exhibited more than 200 pieces from 24 artists, all from the Greater Toronto Area.

Since being established by Neville and Jenny Reid, it runs every October and has raised about $30,000 in its years of existence.

Admission is free to the show that ran on Oct. 12 and 13 this year.
