Apr. 5: Author reports after year in Robot Land

Robot LandNovelist Terri Favro reports on “My Year in Robot Land: How a digital immigrant researched and wrote Generation Robot: A Century of Science Fiction, Fact, and Speculation” at S. Walter Stewart Library.

Will robots take our jobs, car keys and free will — or will they become our helpers, caregivers and lovers? he asks.

Favro examines our ever-changing relationships with new technologies with a sense of skepticism, humour and wonder.

Favro is a novelist, storyteller and marketing copywriter whose work helped introduce the earliest PCs, laptops, mobile phones, ATMs and other devices to Canadian consumers. He is the author of the Ken Klonsky Award-winning novella, The Proxy Bride, and the novels Once Upon a Time in West Toronto and Sputnik’s Children, a Globe100 and CBC Books Top 10 selection for 2017. Her first non-fiction book explores 100 years (1950 to 2050) of human relationships with technology in fact and fiction.

The event is on Apr. 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
