Candidates clean up for Earth Day on Danforth

It was Team Mammoliti that came out on top at a garbage clean-up competition organized by the Danforth Business Improvement Area on April 24.

Mayoral candidate Giorgio Mammoliti was among eight council hopefuls who pitched in at the Earth Day event.

Teams of supporters for the various candidates running for mayor or for ward representation at council wore colourful t-shirt proclaiming their allegiances to the various candidates.

Teams were given a spot in the neighbourhood and 15 minutes to collect garbage. Whichever team collected the most garbage in the allotted time won the prize — the Danforth Earth Day Trash Can Trophy — furnished by the Danforth BIA.

Rocco Rossi, Rob Ford, Sarah Thomson, Jane Pitfield, Jennifer Wood, Chris Caldwell, Andrew James and Michael Restivo were some of the other mayoral and council candidates in attendance.
