Injured women identified as teachers
Two women were transported to hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, after being struck by a car Oct. 8 in the Lytton Park area.
In a news release police said the women, ages 66 and 46, were struck by a westbound 2003 Buick Rendezvous making a left turn off of Glengrove Avenue West at 4:22 p.m.
They were crossing Avenue Road in the crosswalk on the south side, going from the west side to the east side, when they were struck.
The 66-year-old was dragged by the car, which continued south before veering into the northbound lanes and colliding with a 2010 Ford pickup truck.
The elder woman suffered life-threatening injuries.
The 46-year-old’s injuries were not life threatening.
Both women struck by the vehicle are teachers at Allenby Junior Public School, according to media reports.
One media report identified the women as Kirsten Gold and Mary Marshall, citing the Allenby Parents’ Association as the source.
The Allenby Parents’ Association’s website lists Gold as a Grade 3 teacher and Marshall as a Grade 1 teacher, both in the English stream, as Allenby also has French immersion.
Police did not say whether the driver of either vehicle was injured, or whether charges would be laid.
