Northern SS janitor charged in child porn bust
A janitor at Northern Secondary School is facing two charges following a province-wide child porn bust.
Giovanni Cover, 52, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
Toronto District School Board spokesperson Ryan Bird confirmed today a caretaker from the Mt. Pleasant Road school had been arrested as part of an OPP investigation that resulted in some 250 charges for 60 people.
“He is on leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” Bird said. “That is all I can say at this point.”
In a letter sent home to parents on Thursday, Northern principal Ron Felsen said the case does not involve any students from the school. Felsen added that the school “cannot and do not take these allegations lightly.”
He told parents “supports are in place” for students upset by news of the arrest and promised the school will “share as much information as we can” with parents.
Cover is due in court Oct. 16.
