Service road done in 2013

While most of the North York City Centre Service Road will be completed by 2013, a small section, between Bonnington Place and Tradewind Avenue, may never be finished.

In Oct. 2011 city council decided to delay completion of the final stretch, which would eliminate a kink in the service road and involve the expropriation of seven homes, because it no longer sees it as a priority.

“Currently, there is no functional need for us to actively pursue an expropriation of those properties,” said city engineer Frank Clarizio. “In the future, there may be a need and transportation may facilitate the expropriation of land.”

The ring road runs around Yonge Street between Finch and Sheppard avenues and was designed to reduce traffic congestion in the area by diverting traffic from Yonge.
