Taking a hike in support of cancer research

Students from St. Michael’s College School held a walkathon in support of cancer research on Sept. 29.

Classes were halted at the Bathurst and St. Clair area boys school to allow for a full day of events, including mass, a spirit rally and barbecue followed by a walk in the community park behind the Heath St. subway entrance.

School officials say the money raised from the event will be donated to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation on behalf of the late Fr. Daniel Zorzi, who was president of the school from 2000-2005, and died after a battle with cancer in January.

The walkathon was sponsored by Dubwear Clothing, Tim Hortons and i2i Opticians.
