The new transit map?
[attach]6127[/attach]The OneCity transit plan proposed by TTC chair Karen Stintz and vice chair Glenn De Baeremaeker on June 26 outlines 170 kilometres of public transit composed of six subway lines, 10 light rail transit lines and five bus and streetcar routes in all four corners of the city. The project would be built over the course of 30 years at a price tag of $30 billion.
The initial proposal had the city footing one-third of the bill through new taxing power, with the other two-thirds covered by [url=https://streeter.ca/province-says-no-to-onecity.html]provincial[/url] and federal governments.
On average, property tax increases would start at $45 a year and grow to $180 a year. The resulting $272 million a year in revenue would be solely dedicated to building transit infrastructure.
At the July 11 meeting, council is to decide on whether they want to include a list of transit priorities in the city’s official plan, which would allow council to take the first step in determining what routes to include in a greater transit plan.
The proposal consists of plans to:
• Replace the Scarborough RT with a subway from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road
• Extend the Yonge Subway to Steeles Avenue
• Extend the Sheppard West subway from Sheppard Station to Downsview Station)
• Build a [url=https://streeter.ca/onecity-has-support-in-don-mills.html]Don Mills Express subway[/url] line from Eglinton Avenue to Queen Station
• Upgrade the Bloor-Yonge subway station
• Build a Scarborough express rail line from Steeles Avenue to Union Station
• Build an Etobicoke Express Line from Pearson Airport to Union Station
• Extend the Sheppard East LRT to Malvern Town Centre, the Toronto Zoo and Meadowvale Road
• Build a Scarborough Malvern LRT line from Kennedy Station to Sheppard and Morningside
• Extend the Eglinton Crosstown LRT from Jane Street to Pearson Airport
• Extend the Finch West LRT line from Humber College to Pearson Airport
• Build a Jane LRT line from Steeles Avenue to Bloor Street
• Build a Waterfront West LRT from Union Station to Long Branch
• Build a Finch West LRT line from Keele to Yonge Streets

• Build a Waterfront East streetcar line from Union Station to Parliament Street

• Build a Kingston Bus Rapid Transit line from Victoria Park Station to Eglinton Avenue and Kingston Road
• Extend the St. Clair streetcar from Keele to Jane Streets.
• Build a Wilson Bus Rapid Transit line from Wilson Station to Keele Street.
