Community space opened at Brentwood Towers

The Brentwood Towers community of 2,000 residents opened its first indoor amenity room on Sept. 11 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by about 50 people including political representatives and local tenants.

The apartment complex on Lascelles Boulevard now has a community space of about 3,000 square feet, including a spacious meeting room, kitchen and washrooms.

St. Paul’s councillor Josh Matlow cut the ribbon, along with John Plumadore, president of the Brentwood Towers Tenants’ Association, and Jonathan Krehm, co-owner of O’Shanter Development Company.

Brentwood Towers is a multi-residential apartment complex, with five buildings built in the late 1950s. Many of the residents are seniors and this will be their first indoor space for year-round social programming, bringing many residents out from isolation during the winter months, according to a press release from the tenants’ association.

Plans are already underway for programs like, yoga, bingo and art shows.
