Food bank receives $8,000 donation

The North York Harvest Food Bank was recently honoured with an $8,000 donation from Shoppers Drug Mart, who named the organization as their charity of choice in a day-long customer appreciation event.

A portion of the daily Optimum points allotment was converted into cash for the food bank, just in time to help them prepare for the busy holiday rush.

Loren Freid, director of the food bank, called the donation “absolutely terrific.”

“It’s nice exposure for our organization and its helps solidify a good working relationship with a vital corporate partner,” he said. “It also helps us in our mission to help reduce hunger.”
