Tournament for Lou Lockyer

East Yorkers gather to play the game he loved

Hundreds of fans turned up to pay tribute to East York hockey volunteer Lou Lockyer at a charity game held in his honour.

Lockyer, who last April, spent many years coaching hockey and working the snack bar at the East York Memorial Arena.

The Feb. 13 game featured a team of local coaches facing off against a group of fire fighters to raise money for the Mikey Network, a charity that works to install defibrillators in public spaces, and to build a bench outside of East York Arena to commemorate Lockyer.
