Cansfield cruses to victory

Liberal Donna Cansfield cruised to victory in Etobicoke Centre holding onto the riding she’d represented since 2003.

As of 9:50 Cansfield had recorded 51.8 percent of the vote, besting her Progressive Conservative challenger Mary Anne De Monte-Whelan who is polling at 30.3 percent. The NDP’s Ana Rivero, who also ran for the party in Etobicoke Centre in May’s federal election, is in third with 13.9 percent.

Cansfield, who soundly defeated her PC challenger Andrew Pringle in 2007, managed to hold a riding that flipped from the Liberals to the Conservatives this spring. In that battle Ted Opitz toppled Borys Wrzesnewskyj by only 26 votes.
