Bennington Heights
Immortalized by Margaret Atwood in her novel Cat’s Eye, the author’s childhood neighbourhood of Bennington Heights is a highly sought-after address for many. Among the many desirable features of this small neighbourhood are the “private-like” elementary school and the numerous nature trails that offer residents a leisurely stroll to nearby communities.
The neighbourhood maintains a secluded and peaceful atmosphere, thanks largely to its topography. The bluffs of the Don River Valley ravine enclose the tiny district on two sides, with the grand Mt. Pleasant Cemetery bordering it on the north.
With the prestige and natural beauty found in such close proximity to downtown — the neighbourhood sits between Bayview Avenue and Mt. Pleasant Road — it’s small wonder there is so little resident turnover in Bennington Heights.
