Accidents plague local roads
Another month another serious accident on Willowdale Ave.
This time, two young women were seriously injured on March 18 when their car collided with another vehicle in the Willowdale and McKee Aves. intersection just before 4 a.m. The impact was so severe, it wrecked both cars and landed the 19- and 20-year old occupants in the hospital in serious condition. Police haven’t released any information on what caused the crash.
Willowdale, known to police as a speed trap, has claimed many young lives in the past couple of years. But this month, it seemed as if the entire Willowdale traffic area was hazardous to children.
On Feb. 27, a three-year-old boy was seriously hurt when his head hit the car window during a multi-vehicle crash near Bayview and Cummer Aves. It turns out his car seat wasn’t properly installed. The boy is expected to recover.
However, a five-year-old girl traveling with her aunt wasn’t so lucky. She was walking on the east sidewalk of Yonge St. near Wedgewood Dr. but ran into a nearby parking lot. She was struck by a car and killed.
Police are investigating these incidences and any others in the Willowdale neighbourhood. Call Traffic Services at 416-808-1900 if you have any information.
