Development brings cash

City council approved a development on Broadview Ave., which will bring with it contributions for community improvements.

Urban Strategies got the green light to construct a 10-storey residential building at 90 Broadview and add four storeys to an existing commercial office building at 100 Broadview.

As part of the plan the developer, which is a numbered company working with design firm Urban Strategies, has agreed to contribute $350,000 towards a series of neighbourhood initiatives including:

•$130,000 for the development of Joel Weeks Park and completion of a Heritage Conservation District Study on a portion of Queen St. East.

•$110,000 for capital improvements to three local community centres: Jimmy Simpson, Matty Eckler and Ralph Thornton.

•$75,000 towards the Chinese Archway Reserve Fund and for capital projects for the Riverside District Business Improvement Area.

•$35,000 towards capital improvements to Toronto Community Housing facilities in Ward 30.
