No ID yet on body found under St. Clair Avenue bridge

A homeless man found burned to death under the bridge on St. Clair Avenue East near Mt. Pleasant Road Wednesday night will likely not be identified until sometime next week, police say.

The man was found at 8:30 p.m. after reports of smoke billowing out from under the bridge. Police found candles and a paint can at the scene, which they believe was being used as an inhalant.

Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu said investigating officers are waiting for autopsy results to confirm the man’s identity.

“They had an idea who it was, but they need to get the official records to confirm,” she told the Town Crier today.
