TTC driver charged in pedestrian death

Toronto Police have charged a 34-year-old TTC driver after a 65-year-old woman was struck and killed on Thanksgiving weekend outside of Lawrence West subway station.

The woman was in the crosswalk, crossing Lawrence Avenue West from north to south, at about 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 when a bus making a left turn out of the station struck her.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver is charged with careless driving, making an unsafe turn, and not yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police are not releasing the names of the driverĀ or the victim.
