March 11: SF author Kaz Lefave at reading, signing

Canadian science fiction author Kaz Lefave launches the third book in the first trilogy of her Nemecene series, Nemecene: Through Fire and Ice with a short reading, audience Q & A and autographing at Bakka Phoenix book store on March 11.

The event runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the store at 84 Harbord St.

Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be served.

In her works, Lefave advocates for a deeper connection to our environment through a futuristic adventure that takes place after humanity has turned Earth into a toxic planet flooded by dead oceans and poisonous gases. Twin protagonists, Keeto and Elize, become the target of an otherworldly predator in their quest to save Elize from their mother’s mysterious death and, in so doing, discover who they, and ultimately we, really are.

This trilogy is part of a planned 10-novel series and a larger trans-media Nemecene World with a mission to empower sci-fi/fantasy fans to connect with water and to heal our oceans through fun and socio-environmental choices.

A portion of each sale will be donated to the David Suzuki Foundation’s Protecting Coastal Waters Project.
