Feb. 12: Darwin Day lecture on whales at the ROM

The 2019 Darwin Day Lecture at the Royal Ontario Museum looks at “Our Changing Oceans: The Past, Present & Future of Whales” on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.

Smithsonian researcher Nick Pyenson, author of Spying on Whales, asks why it took whales over 50 million years to evolve to such big sizes, and how they eat enough to stay that big. How did their ancestors return from land to the sea — and what can their lives tell us about evolution as a whole?

Importantly, in the sweepstakes of human-driven habitat and climate change, will whales survive?

Admission to the lecture is $20. Join the waiting list online at the ROM website or enquire by email.
