THINGS TO DO

Feb. 27: Everything you wanted to know about the museum

The Royal Ontario Museum presents its annual research colloquium and Vaughan Lecture on Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The thought-provoking event highlights the museum’s world-renowned research and discoveries. It consists of 15-minute presentations, 14 in all, each delivered by one of the ROM’s leading curators, researchers or post-doctoral students. The audience will glimpse behind-the-scenes, into the ROM’s laboratories, collections and out into the field, where ROM experts break ground in art, culture and nature.

Topics include the making of a Viking sword, fashion history, counting atoms to date planets, discovery of a new bat species, and fish biodiversity.

The colloquium is free. Admission to the ROM galleries and special exhibitions is not included.

The museum is at 100 Queen’s Park at Bloor Street.
