A bit of rural life in the heart of Toronto

Mechanical bull at country fair
RIDING HIGH: The mechanical bull was a popular attraction at the Midtown Country Fair.

Where would you go to ride a bull, get lost in the corn and sample old-time country foods? Midtown Toronto, of course — at least on Oct. 13 when the Midtown Country Fair was launched.

The Midtown Yonge BIA hosted its first country fair in a parking lot near Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue — complete with a corn maze, mechanical bull riding, entertainment, games, contests and food.

The free event drew about 1,000 people from across Toronto to the midtown site.

Why here?

“Every day in midtown it’s a hyped up urban life and its very city-oriented,” an organizer said. “We wanted to give those that cannot get out of the city a chance to have that experience.”
