THINGS TO DO

Sept. 23–26: Enjoy animated art in Yorkville

The Yorkville community is welcoming people to enjoy free outdoor public art installations this weekend.

Yorkville Avenue between Bellair Street and Hazelton Avenue will be closed to traffic Thursday to Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly and Sunday from noon to 2 a.m. for the exhibition. A free mural activation will be available for all starting Friday through the weekend.

The free event is organized by the Greater Yorkville Residents’ Association and the Bloor-Yorkville Business Improvement Area.

As pedestrians move along Yorkville Avenue, they will have an opportunity to appreciate the annual Yorkville Murals event. Yorkville Murals, which is a program partner of ArtworxTO: Toronto’s Year of Public Art 2021–2022, is an annual, three-day cultural event that helps bring animation to the street, neighbourhood and city.

Programming for Yorkville Murals will be spread throughout the Yorkville neighbourhood. Pedestrianizing part of Yorkville Avenue will allow participants to experience five moveable murals, nighttime projections on 92 Yorkville Avenue, and a pop-up gallery.
