THINGS TO DO

Sept. 1–Jan. 17: See the world through Winnie the Pooh’s eyes

Winnie-the-Pooh makes his return to the Royal Ontario Museum on Sept. 1. “Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic” invites visitors to see the world through the fictional bear’s eyes: a welcoming, safe place to ponder, wonder and find joy in simple pleasures.

The ROM is the exclusive Canadian venue for this exhibition and the last stop on its world tour. It’s on here until Jan. 17.

Organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, UK, the show examines the origins, creation and enduring legacy of the stories by A.A. Milne and the illustrations of E.H. Shepard. It also looks at Pooh’s Canadian connection, which helped inspire the character.

The exhibition originally opened in March but closed shortly after due to the pandemic. It has been retrofitted to accommodate new ROM health and safety measures.

It also now offers visitors choices for interactivity.  For example, the same content is shared on both iPads and wall graphics, and other activities are available as look-only as well as hands-on.

The museum is usually open Wednesdays to Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., although it is open on Tuesday, Sept. 1 as a special day to welcome Pooh back,

The Royal Ontario Museum is located at 100 Queen’s Park on the corner of Bloor Street West. Adult admission is $23 with discounts for children, students and seniors.
