Driver charged for November pedestrian fatality
A 45-year-old truck driver faces three charges after a 22-year-old woman was struck and killed at Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West in November.
The woman was standing on the southwest corner of the intersection at 5:40 a.m. on Nov. 27 when she was struck by a fuel tanker making a right turn to go south on Bathurst, police said. The woman was dragged a distance before a witness flagged the driver down and alerted him to the crash.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, who was not named by police, was charged on Feb. 11 with failing to yield to a pedestrian, careless driving, and failing to stop at a red light.
