Elderly woman struck by car on Bathurst

An elderly woman is in critical condition at Sunnybrook hospital after being hit by a car on Bathurst Street, near Castlefield Avenue earlier this evening.

The woman, 79, was crossing east to west mid-block just before 9 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound Toyota Corolla.

The woman was without vital signs at the scene, but was revived en route to the hospital.

Traffic Sergeant Tim Burrows said the woman was crossing the road after leaving Our Lady of Assumption church, located on Bathurst, just north of Castlefield.

It was not immediately clear where the woman was headed, or if she is an area resident.

Police are currently speaking with the elderly male driver of the Toyota Corolla.
