Kid-napping alleged, as young goat stolen from Riverdale Farm

A three-month-old goat is missing after a recent break-in at Riverdale Farm.

The alleged thief or thieves entered a pen within the historic farm on Winchester Street in Cabbagetown between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday and stole the young Nubian goat named Juniper, police said in a press release Friday.

“Riverdale Farm staff are understandably upset and are extremely concerned about Juniper who, they say, would not leave the pen without her mother and would have likely cried out during the incident,” said Det. Const. Graham Ellis of 51 Division’s major crime unit.

The kid’s identical twin sibling, Justine, was left in the pen unharmed.

Police are requesting public help in finding Juniper.

“We’d urge anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact us immediately so we can find her and safely return her to the farm,” Ellis said.

Juniper is described as weighing 30 pounds and having black and silver fur, brown legs and white ears.

The city’s parks, forestry and recreation division has released a message on social media headed “Have you seen Juniper?” and with the hashtag #HelpBringJuniperHome.
