Arrest made in child abduction, sex assault

[attach]5575[/attach]An arrest has been made in the Boxing Day abduction and sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl that shocked the community.

On Sat., Feb. 18, Toronto Police arrested a 28-year-old Toronto man and charged him with break and enter, abduction of a minor, sexual assault and sexual interference.

Police say between 3 and 3:30 a.m. on Boxing Day, a man entered a home on Charleswood Drive northwest of Bathurst and Wilson.

They say the girl was then taken from the house and sexually assaulted.

Family members found the girl just minutes after the abduction and allegedly saw a man fleeing the scene.

Police allege that man was Ryan Belbin, who appeared in court on Feb. 21. Police believe there may be more victims.

Though no information was given as to how or if the accused and victim knew each other, there is an R Belbin listed as living directly across the street from the home where the girl was taken.
