June 22: Yard sales to support Danforth Strong

To recognize the upcoming anniversary of the Danforth Avenue shooting, residents of a local neighbourhood are hosting a community Sale to support the Danforth Strong movement and end gun violence.

Registered sellers are donating 30 per cent of sales to Trigger Change, a campaign that encourages Canadians to go online and use their voices as ammunition to help pass gun control legislation.

“The Danforth shooting was a wakeup call for all of us to take charge,” said Tilly Gray, co-organizer of the Danforth Community Sale.” We won’t accept living in the shadow of a gun. Nor will we accept that any of us who continue to struggle with the impact of this tragic event should do so quietly or in isolation,”

The community sale is being held on June 22 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain our shine. Residences taking part are in the neighbourhoods north and south of Danforth  between the Don Valley and Pape Avenue. You can see more information and a map of locations on the website.
