Children’s author entertains at Mabel’s Fables

HE’S BEEN THERE BEFORE: Paul Covello’s signature — and a small bird — announced his previous visit to Mabel’s in 2014,

Mabel’s Fables shoppers were in for a treat on May 16 as children’s author Paul Covello was on hand to read from his new book Everyday ABC.

The writer-illustrator behind such Canadiana-infused titles as Toronto ABCCanada ABC and Canada 123 is also known for his poster work for the TTC and Publisher’s Weekly.

Before the guest of honour entered the upstairs reading area, children were entertained by two other books and a brief chat with Siegfried the Pig.

On hand to listen to Covello recite his version of the ABCs were students from EPIC School and Mount Pleasant Village residents with their little ones in tow.

With all the focus upstairs, it allowed for resident feline Mabel to relax in the front window of the bookstore.
