Gordon’s Pub Kitchen permanently closes Queen St. E location

The recently opened Gordon’s Pub Kitchen is yet another restaurant to succumb to Toronto’s lockdown restrictions. The restaurant at 993 Queen St. E. near Pape Avenue opened its doors in November 2019, just before the pandemic hit Toronto, and closed for good in January.

An announcement was posted to Gordon’s Instagram page on Jan. 13 announcing its final dinner service on Jan. 30.

During lockdown the restaurant chose to revise its menu, adding COVID-19 takeout value menus among its regular daily specials.

Gordon’s “Beyond Burgers,” reasonable prices, and welcoming staff kept it going for awhile, but it still suffered the same fate as countless other local businesses during the pandemic.

“Thank you to our Leslieville community who came out majorly to show your support in our final weeks,” Gordon’s posted via Instagram on Feb., 11. “We appreciated the sympathies and well wishes  as we close this chapter.”

While it was in business, Gordon’s has been active feeding the homeless with generous donations from residents of the Leslieville community. On its final night, the pub staff fed the hungry with their additional food before closing their doors for good.

“The staff prepared warm meals to bring to various tent encampments across the city and give back one more time,” the pub posted in their final Instagram post.

It asked its patrons to “remember we’re all in this together.”
