Woman, 63, struck and killed on Eglinton

A 63-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a Jeep while crossing Eglinton Avenue E. near Hanna Road.

Police say the woman was attempting to cross Eglinton east of Hanna Road at about 7:25 p.m. on Oct. 20 when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 31-year-old man.

The woman was taken to hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

This was the 65th fatality on Toronto roads this year and the second pedestrian fatality in Leaside in 2016.

An January, an elderly woman was struck and killed by a vehicle at Eglinton and Bayview Avenue as she crossed the street.
