Apr. 22: Islamophobia in the Age of Trump

On Apr. 22 from 2 to 5 p.m., the Committee of Progressive Pakistani Canadians will be holding an event to discuss Islamophobia in the age of Trump.

With the rise of xenophobic and anti-immigrant sentiments, policies, and discourse since Donald Trump’s win in the States, and also within Canada, it is important as community organizations to challenge this bigoted discourse, the group says.

The program will be led by Alia Hogben, executive director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women and Order of Canada recipient, and Syed Hussan, researcher, writer and campaigner.

The discussion will focus on anti-immigrant policies and their impact on our communities, the failure of Trump in his attempts to implement these policies, and to develop language to challenge these systems.

The event will be held at the Leaside Library at 165 McRae Dr. Admission is free.
