May 6: Jane’s Walk on Leaside’s great divide

The Jane’s Walk in Leaside on May 6 is Between Homes and Jobs: A Walk Down Laird Drive, focusing on the divide between the neighbourhood’s industrial and residential areas as laid out in the 1912 plan for what was then a new town.

Led by Geoff Kettel and Connor Turnbull of Leaside Matters, the 90-minute tour starts at 1:30 p.m. outside Olde York Fish and Chips Restaurant at 96 Laird Dr.

The group will walk north and south on Laird to see historical landmarks on both sides of the street, including the site of Canada Wire and Cable Company (CWCC) factory and homes. The Walk will end where it began.

For more on this and other walks, see the Jane’s Walk website.
