GreekTown proudly hosts the 5th annual Sounds of the Danforth

The GreekTown on the Danforth Business Improvement Area is proud to present the fifth annual Sounds of the Danforth on July 3 and 4.

The boulevards of Toronto’s Danforth Avenue will resonate with free, live performances from a broad range of musical genres between 12-6 p.m. each day. Come celebrate summer in GreekTown by strolling along the Danforth from Chester to Jones avenues taking in the eclectic mix of sights and sounds.

More than 25 gifted artists and groups will take to the streets each day during this weekend long celebration to showcase their incredible talents. A mosaic of musical diversity will be featured with performances including everything from pop to jazz, folk to R & B, and classical to world rhythms. This non-traditional venue will allow festival-goers the opportunity to expand their musical horizons at their own pace. Visitors can sample some of their favourite, well-loved melodies then stroll down the street and explore some different musical genres they’ve never tried before.

In addition to the boulevards, Alexander the Great Parkette located at Logan and Danforth avenues will also feature free programming from noon to 6 p.m. throughout the four days of the event. In the (unlikely) event of rain, the following restaurants will throw open their doors and move the performances inside: Myth, 417 Danforth Ave.; Organic Buddha, 443 Danforth Ave.; Ampeli, 526 Danforth Ave.; Fox & Fiddle, 535 Danforth Ave.; and Rails & Ales, 752 Danforth.

GreekTown on the Danforth, one of Toronto’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan neighbourhoods, has always been a favourite destination for shopping, dining, strolling and patios. Now you can add listening to the activities.
