A man suspected of targeting seniors to offer fraudulent home repairs near Bayview Avenue and Blythwood Road has been arrested.
Toronto Police were called to the area on Sept. 24 when one to three men were approaching homes occupied by seniors and convincing them that they needed roof, driveway, or other home renovations, police first reported on Sept. 25.
The men allegedly provided a list of repairs, quoted a price and started some repairs. Then they prepared a list of more work required and increased the price before demanding payment, police said.
The men accepted mostly cash and went with the victim to a nearby bank machine to withdraw money and take the payment, police say.
It is believed that no actual repairs were required or completed.
Martin Thomas Quinn, 29, of Mississauga was arrested on Oct. 3 and charged with fraud over $5,000.
He was to appear in court on Oct. 4.
