St. Aubyn Crescent residential proposal heads to OMB
Owners of 3 St. Aubyns Cres. fighting to reduce sideyard setbacks by third of a metre
Less than two thirds of a metre.
That’s how much wider the owners of 3 St. Aubyns Cres., southwest of Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East, would like their new two-storey home to be — so much so, they’ve appealed their case to the Ontario Municipal Board, according to Ward 25 Councillor Jaye Robinson.
During a committee of adjustment hearing in May, the owners had requested sideyard setbacks of 1.2 metres, which would exceed the area’s setback limit of 1.8 metres. As a compromise, the committee offered to authorize a 1.5-metre setback, Robinson said. The owners refused.
“A lot of people want to build the absolute biggest mass of a building they can,” Robinson said. “The immediate neighbours are very concerned about it, they’ve written me letters, and the Lawrence Park Ratepayers Association asked me to get a lawyer and a planner to uphold the decision of the committee of adjustment.”
On Sept. 30 city council authorized staff to oppose the application at the OMB hearing, scheduled for Oct. 28.
