Boards cancel buses during G20

The Toronto District School Board and its Catholic counterpart have cancelled all school bus transportation for June 25, a day before the two-day G20 Summit is set to begin.

The decision was made in anticipation of expected delays and traffic congestion on roads caused by the influx of dignitaries and visitors traveling into Toronto for the summit.

“It is not known when motorcades will start down major arteries, resulting in closures of some highways and bridges over these roadways,” Toronto District Catholic School Board statement read.

In a letter to parents, Catholic board director of education Ann Perron said they were concerned students would end up waiting extended periods for or on delayed buses due to the road closures and traffic.

The decision to cancel the school buses was made in conjunction with the ministry of education, local police and the RCMP.
