In what has traditionally been a bellwether riding, Etobicoke–Lakeshore, like the province itself, looks like it has chosen to remain a governed by a Liberal.
As of 9:58 incumbent Laurel Broten is cruising to victory with 53.6 percent of the vote, besting Progressive Conservative Simon Nyilassy who currently has 27.2 percent. The NDP’s Dionne Coley is in third with 14.6 percent of the ballots.
While Broten has won easily since first defeating Morley Kells in 2003, her riding switched parties federally with then-Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff losing to Conservative Bernard Trottier by a wide margin.
