Fashion designer Diane Kroe plans on taking her travel collection across Canada and around the world, but she held a kickoff event a little closer to home.

On Aug. 26 Kroe was joined by Toronto Fashion Incubator mentor Michael Morris and networker Laura Tyson to promote her travel collection and find customers interested in becoming independent retail reps.

Kroe, who used to run a clothing store in North Toronto, launched her travel wear collection in 2008, which features multifunctional pieces that can be worn up to 22 ways, transitioning from a bathing suit cover to a strapless or one-shoulder dress, or t-shirts.

“I design for women that travel so each piece is functional,” she said.

The first presentation was held at 9 Bars on St. Clair Avenue, east of Yonge Street, but more shows are planned over the coming months. A percentage of sales profits from the event were donated to Children’s Mental Health Ontario.
