Cops call for help on murder case

[attach]6451[/attach]Police have recently updated a murder investigation from spring that took place in Lawrence Heights.

The new information includes description of a suspect, a suspect vehicle, and a brief explanation of how the murder of Paul Fitzgerald Benn, 38, played out.

According to Homicide Squad, Benn was with a group of men near his home on Cather Crescent on May 4.

There were several groups of men in the area at the time.

Just before 7 p.m., residents and pedestrians reported hearing gunshots, and saw Benn being chased by a man through a grassy field behind some homes on Cather Crescent.

After several shots were fired, Benn fell to the ground, and the gunman fled the scene.

One stray bullet struck a nearby home.

Benn was taken hospital, where he later died.

[attach]6452[/attach]Several vehicles left the area after the shooting, including a vehicle of interest, which is described as a newer model silver Honda Pilot.

The suspect is described as a black male, late 20s to late 30s, about 5-foot-9 to six feet tall, with a muscular build. He has short dark hair and may have been wearing a baseball hat. He was wearing a light blue shirt and darker coloured pants or possibly shorts.

Cather Crescent was also the scene of an unsolved homicide from 2010 when Randy Anthony Malcolm, 24, was shot in front of a home and died the next day.
