Cops nab alleged school shooter
Marc Garneau student arrested after incident with a pellet gun
Police wasted no time in arresting a youth in connection with a school shooting at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute on May 18.
Police said they were called to the school just after 11 a.m. following reports of a shooting where a student was allegedly grazed by shot fired from a pellet gun.
After the shooting the school was placed in lockdown. Responding officers located and arrested a 16-year-old student without incident.
Police also seized an air pistol and several pellets. The boy now faces three charges, one each for weapons dangerous and assault with a weapon, plus a mischief-related charge based on interfering with property.
The youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear in court on June 27.
Police also added that Marc Garneau CI is one of the schools with a School Resource Officer assigned to it and that the officer was at the school during the investigation.
