Craig Scott wins easily

Toronto-Danforth stays within the NDP family

In the race to replace Jack Layton the NDP will hold Toronto-Danforth.

With 135 polls reporting Craig Scott has received 59.3 percent of the popular vote 30.6 points ahead of Liberal Grant Gordon in second. Conservative Andrew Keyes is very distant running third with 5.2 percent of the vote.

While the Liberals will go down to defeat the party has something to celebrate as it has gained over 10 percent of the popular vote over their showing in May’s federal election. This success is likely due to a collapse of the Conservative vote as the NDP held steady at around 60 percent.

The Town Crier will continue our coverage throughout the night, including the remarks of the leading candidates both on our website and on Twitter @mytowncrier.
