Don Valley West reelects Greshon

Voters in Don Valley West sent Gerri Gershon back to the Toronto District School Board on Election Day.

A veteran trustee, she won with almost 70 percent of the vote while her only competitor Muhammad Shahid got 30.8 percent.

Gershon said she was looking forward to the challenge of rolling out all-day kindergarten and new school technology.

A big change in her own ward will be the creation of a new school in Thorncliffe Park, said Gershon, first elected to the school board in North York in 1985.

“We have gone through the design stage. It’s going through the approval stage at the city now,” said Gershon about the proposed new Thorncliffe school. “I anticipate a shovel in the ground by next spring.”
